10/10/2009 race results
I do want to recognize the all male teams and 2 person coed teams out on the course, which didn't happen at the post race since they weren't in the
running for official prizes (which totalled $1000 cash)--and everyone was so tired and ready to crash.  However, what I really wanted to say was . . .
although the 3 and 4 person coed division are the ones "true to the origins and spirit" of adventure racing because of the added dimension that coed
and additional teammates provide--the other divisions out there on the course deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments as well.

So Flying Hellfish, Half Fast, Unscared, Old Goats and Krasnovian Cat Herders--you all did an amazing race and accomplished places in your divisions.
Team Iowa and the Jayhawkers were also great contenders with some bad luck for the day.  I did mention in the post race that if I had a Spirit Award I
would give it the Flying Hellfish and Team Iowa for facing the most adversity with the most positive attitudes and still remaining competitive--a level of
physical and mental strength that is difficult to achieve.  I did not mention the Krasnovian Cat Herders as the husband/wife team--and should have since
I have heard (and seen) what a great race you guys had.  So obviously, I'm the race director and I can have a Spirit Award if I want--all 3 of the teams
just mentioned (Hellfish, Iowa and Cats) will be receiving a $50 discount on your next race registration--I hope you'll come back (along with the other
teams), you are an inspiration!

Speaking of prizes, some of you left before getting yours.  Please
email me with address where you want it sent to.  BTW, Karoake points are listed for
interest only--they were not taken into account for finish times, except the bonus point winners.

Volunteers this year were the best ever.  You are golden--volunteer appreciation day will be set up for you to pick whatever you want to do--rappelling,
climbing, kayaking, orienteering, biking.  I couldn't do this without you and your efforts and sacrificing of time are so very much appreciated!

The complete race director's journal of these races is lacking racer perspective, so--if you have some good ones, please send them my way.
Also,
check out these awesome pictures!
